Flossie & Bumble HQ has been fairly quiet over the summer concentrating on the latest arrival to the family, 2 legged, not four!
But now Christmas is on the horizon we are getting lovely and busy and have designed new Festive Dachshund Notecards of two wire-haired sausages with little red noses and cosy scarfs surrounded by a jolly wreath of hydrangeas, thistles and berries.
Grey is also proving a popular colour choice this Autumn with a lot of private commissions for Home Wares. Our favourite is this country themed linen with smart hares on by Dunelm.
Our next Christmas fair is in the pretty country village of Crondall in Hampshire in their lovely village hall on Monday 6th 6.30 – 8.30pm and Tuesday 7th November 10-4pm.
The festive season has started with a bang here at Flossie & Bumble HQ with a lovely little feature in 25 Beautiful Homes December Magazine on our old flat in London.
We have been busy making stockings, tweed lavender hearts, tartan bunting, twine star decorations and velvet backed cushions for our new Winter collection.
These will be on show at the Crondall Christmas Fair next week in Hampshire with the private view on Monday evening and then all day Tuesday, we cannot wait.
We are feeling very festive here at Flossie and Bumble with Personalised Stockings commissions galore. Using vintage tweed and velvet, each one is unique. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to order, each costs £35.
Our handmade Advent Calendars and Wreaths have been well received too.
We are also busy making the final touches to our products for the Sprout Arts Christmas Market in South West London which opens Saturday 12th for 1 week. Come and browse our tempting stocking fillers and decorations.
Bumble and I wish you all a very Happy Christmas!
We have had great fun with some Hot Paws and Trogg fabric, ‘When Harry Met Ted’. The two little cheeky dogs trot about on ivory linen causing mischief and the print was just too tempting not to use, especially as their scruffy hairstyles matched Bumbles! The Cushion is available to buy online and more products will be added soon.
We have also been very busy with Wedding Present commissions such as Doorstops with the date of the special day embriodered on the front. Using specific fabric to suit the newly married couple makes the present even more tailored and unique. The one below was made with some Harris Tweed commissioned by the Groom to match his family tartan.
There is a discount with 10% off our Dachshund Products in August when ordering through the wonderful website Devoted to Dachshunds http://www.devotedtodachshunds.co.uk

As Bumble is getting a little brother or sister in October, my thoughts have turned towards the nursery and decorating it. I’m suddenly drawn towards pretty nostalgic prints and pastel colours which remind me of my own childhood.
With babies in mind, one such new design is our Initial Doorstop, made here in Clarke & Clarke’s Rosebud fabric. These make wonderful presents for any new baby or child’s bedroom. As seen on the wonderful blog http://www.princessandthepram.co.uk.
We sniffed out this vintage Laura Ashley ‘Dancing Bunnies’ fabric at an Antiques fair which is incredibly charming and fun. Clients have been choosing what colour letter they want on the front so each order is personalised and a one off. Prices start from £24.50.
Another product is our Initial Cushion, seen here in Blue Elephant with smart yellow linen piping cord which is proving popular for boy’s bedrooms and playrooms.
Samples of these will be at the Wimbledon Village Fete next Saturday 21st, 10.30am – 5.30pm. Enjoy the Horse and Dog Show, 200 stalls and live jazz in a pretty corner of Wimbledon. I’m located in Marquee 3 by the Farmers Market and Dog Show arena – bliss!
At last after a wet and blustery Winter, Spring is in the air – snowdrops and blossom are emerging all over London, brightening up every street and park. Bumble can now go on a proper walk instead of a soggy swim on Wandsworth Common.
To celebrate this we have bought out the Garden Posy Mug, Note Cards and Laundry Bag. This print is inspired by my wedding flowers of peonies, lilly of the valley and cabbage roses. The pale green floral print with pink spots is a fresh yet nostalgic design.
Many of my Home Wares are inspired by a ‘Country Cottage’ lifestyle but this isn’t very realistic living in London so trips down to my parents house in beautiful Wiltshire are needed to boost my creative ideas and it encourages me to make our new little home in South West London feel as country and rustic as possible.
Our new framed Phrase Pictures using Cabbages and Roses paper and blue stamped letters, give any town house or flat a little ‘Sniff of the Countryside’.
Off to Ardingly Antiques fair next week in Sussex http://www.iacf.co.uk/ardingly/ to pick up some vintage bargains and gain some inspiration for a new range of Accessories so watch this space.
Inspired by the seasonal activity in my parents beautiful garden in the Wiltshire countryside, I started sketching out all the birds and animals I saw.
It is so rewarding seeing the journey from the initial rough drawings to the Photoshop version on the computer to the final print on the bone china mugs and natural cotton Tea Towels.
I wanted to come up with a classic Toile du Jouy meets Beatrix Potter print, so fresh yet nostalgic and included my ‘With a Sniff of the Countryside’ tag.
The print comes in pale blue as I already have green and pink designs and clients are always asking for something in blue. Hopefully next year if the design proves popular, I will bring out more colours.
My good friend, the talented Will Clarkson, helped me with some stock photos http://willclarkson.co.uk and the results are so much better than anything I’ve taken before – it really pays off getting a professional to help.
These new products will be launched at the lovely Christmas Fair in the pretty village of Dummer in Hampshire so tell your friends and do pop along if you live nearby.
After months of designing and going back and forth with the workshop, my exclusive ‘Garden Posy’ print is now ready online in Tea Towels, Lavender Bags and Cushions.
Inspired by my wedding flowers of peonies, lilly of the valley and cabbage roses, the pale green and pink spotty print on organic natural cotton has a nostalgic yet fresh appeal.
The beautiful little lavender bags are a perfect size for your bedside table or chest of drawers and are filled with aromatic hand picked lavender from Wiltshire.
The Tea Towels would look lovely in any country cottage or town house kitchen and have a handy hanging loop on the back.
Lots of friends and clients have asked why I don’t get everything mass produced abroad but I am passionate about all things handmade and British so I am still making all the designs myself in my little studio in South West London with Bumble, my little dachshund on hand to help, and try to include ‘a sniff of the countryside’ with each product.
With the Parsons Green Village Fair and Barnes Summer Fair coming up, I am frantically sewing away to make enough stock and hope to see some of you there.
Flossie & Bumble have had a fantastic 1st year – it’s been hectic and daunting but we have loved every minute. One of the best sellers was definitely the Spotty Dachshund Tea Towel.
Getting so much positive feedback after a busy Christmas and with Spring now round the corner, my thoughts turn to expanding the business and coming up with new designs and products. With so many friends and clients getting married, having a baby and even buying their own little dachshund! I wanted to create more items to appeal to them all.
Designing the ‘Dashing Dachshund’ mug was exciting as I have always wanted to create my own pottery, hopefully in the summer I will bring out a vintage floral print too.
Painting initials on or adding fabrics to some of the products means I won’t now make some of the items myself, but will still ‘Flossie it’ – add a personal touch instead, like the Breakfast Trays, which provide useful bespoke commission ideas for wedding presents.
Dates for your shopping diary will come out next month with many wonderful Summer Fairs and unique Pop – Up Sales in and around London.
We hope to see you then!
